I got the opportunity to do a Q and A the supremely talented persona for the #CelebratingWomen Series! Let’s dive in and learn…

Tell us more about your journey, what was the inspiration behind starting Ghoomophiro.com?

  • I had been an avid traveler since 2007 and this is during one of my travel to Pachmarhi, I thought, why not make my hobby as full-time career. Any which ways, I have always been keen to start something on my own and during my MBA days at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, I thought to start something which can help corporate to organize team events. This is where “Ghoomophiro” was born. It has been 5 years to this journey and over this period we have expanded from one person to the team of 15. Our portfolio has also expanded from corporates team events to solo women groups. As part of solo women groups, we have fixed departures of women who are traveling solo for hiking, and wildlife. Traveling in such groups gives these women travelers an opportunity to network.

What will you tell young and aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to take the leap of faith and start something new?

  • Never get troubled with what others say/talk about you. There shall be people who will always try to pull you down. Just keep moving, learn from your mistakes and above all, Always remember, you just have one life; hence live it to the fullest. Don’t stop chasing your dreams.

Is there any travel book on the cards?

  • Not exactly. We write our travel #musings at www.ghoomophiro.com

How can aspiring authors decide whether to opt for the regular publishing system or self-publish their work?

  • It is a very difficult choice, as both self-publishing and regular publishing have their own pros and cons. Though one should always try for regular publishing but in case it doesn’t materialize opting for self-publishing is also good.

Is copyrighting the book necessary before the publishing process?

  • It is very unlikely to get your work copyrighted before getting published. You need to show some trust to the publishers to plan to work with.

There are many writers who aspire to become an author someday, what is the one thing that you would like to share with them?

  • Don’t get disappointed with the rejections of your manuscript. Always read the manuscripts multiple times. Get the feedback and work on it and share the updated one with the publisher. Writing a book and getting it published is a long process and demands lot of patience.

What’s next in store for your readers?

  • They can expect a fiction this time from me, though theme will still remain “entrepreneurship”
